DIE STRASSE GEHÖRT UNS: Das Straßenleben wird gefeiert!
Eugene Quinn moderiert und ist live als DJ vor Ort dabei. Weiters findet eine Silly Walks Competition statt. Mit Preisen und viel Spass.
Welcome to the Garnisongasse Fest, in Alsergrund - and not the first time we make events there, since we marked Brexit tour end with a session in Highlander Scottish pub on the street, and also it features a fine Otto Wagner building included on our all of Otto tour. The fest will also be making a collection to support our work (the first ever!), so this is also an unusual opportunity to support our community concepts.
For 30 minutes, three colourful judges invite you to show us your silly walks. They will decide who wins big prizes. Come and show us your craziest moves! Mick Jagger? Beyonce? Catwalk show? Charlie Chaplin? Monty Python-style? Or Arjen Robben? whatever! Everything is allowed here. We want to have fun on the streets of Vienna, and you can be the star.
We want you to show off some colourful walks: the ghetto strut (call it Miami), moonwalk, catwalk, first walk (cute baby), simultaneous march, contemporary dance walk, ballet... The whole world is a stage, and each man must play his part.
We
faced the challenge of turning something we do every day, without
thinking about it – walking - into an event, and something worth filming and
coming to watch. And we came upon the solution of a public
competition which is open to everybody. We can all do a stupid
stroll. In fact, Eugene and his son Josef practice silly walks every single day, on the way to school in Leopoldstadt.
We also want to show the value of play, which many people forget to do, with so many complicated adult subjects like relationship, jobs and money to deal with. But it is valuable, to play together, relax and laugh. To help the fun along, Euge's son Josef will be joining us, once he finishes school. Vienna is perhaps not a city where it is so easy to play. Many people are ernst. And we celebrate summer in the city and public space, in spectacular, ridiculous fashion.
After making this event for opening of Mahü, opening of Schwedenplatz neugestaltung, in Meidling, at Streetlife Festival, etc, the time we made this event, it was part of the Sonnwendviertel Mobility Fest, and features in this film, with a few extracts of silly walks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l3_24Alm4M&feature=youtu.be
One modern opportunity for silly walking - genuinely stupid this time - is to try sending text messages while walking along busy city streets.Poss
