Deutsche sind die drittgrößte Migrant*innengruppe in Wien und ein wichtiger Teil der lokalen Wirtschaft, Dynamik und Kreativität. Dennoch ist es immer noch ein akzeptabler Rassismus, sich über diese Gruppe von Neu-Wiener*innen lustig zu machen. Die Witze sind klischeehaft und selten lustig, aber sie werden fortgesetzt.

Wir wollen erforschen, wer die Deutschen sind, warum sie hierher kommen, was sie an ihrer Heimat vermissen und welche Unterschiede es zwischen unserem großen nördlichen Nachbarn und den Österreicher*innen/Wiener*innen gibt.

Torben ist vor kurzem aus Berlin zu uns gestoßen und kann einige neue Einsichten und Perspektiven einbringen. Eugene ist ein großer Fan der Urbanist*innen hier - viele von ihnen sind weiblich - die so viel Kreativität in der Stadtplanung, in der Lehre und in der Kommunikation liefern, direkt aus Deutschland. Germans are the second largest migrant group in Vienna, and an important part of the local economy, dynamism and creativity. Yet there is still an acceptable racism in making fun of this group of new Viennese. The jokes are cliche and rarely funny, but continue.

We want to make a practical exploration of who the Germans are, why they come to live here, what they miss about home, and the differences between our big northern neighbour and the Austrians/Viennese.

Torben has recently joined us from Berlin and can bring some fresh insights and perspective. Eugene is a big fan of the urbanists here - many of them female - who supply so much creativity in city-planning, teaching and communications, directly from Deutschland.

Whoosh makes many projects across the frontier, and is in many ways more popular there than here.

Subjects we explore: humour, food, dress, music, politics, media, tourists, language and accents, Kaiser Wiesn, football, railways, Hitler, relative size, history, rivalries, literature, prominent Germans in Wien and Austrians up there, cars, what Austria does better, that many around the world see no difference, religion, sausages, beer, businesses like Hofer...
