Vienna is a pioneer city in terms of tech innovation. The only problem is that the locals are so ignorant about it. From Hedy Lamarr developing Bluetooth to Otto Neurath's data visuals, Max Schrems' campaigns against surveillance capitalism, gender-confirmation surgery, FM4 and Vienna Tourism's fascinating series of ads to show visitors how not to lose yourself in hashtags.
Eugene has some history with Vlad and the Vienna TEDx Talks. In 2015, he made a presentation called Remixing the City, in MAK, as part of the urbanism strand of TED, with Josh, and then in 2016 in Volkstheater, with permission to walk through MQ, showing the creative value of walking.
With this ambitious conference, Vienna moves from a TEDx affiliate event, into the big flow and visibility of TED. Boom!
