A series of tours where we visit a new district each month. Club Melange is a group which introduces newbies to Wien, with a fun twist. But everybody is welcome, and many Viennese come along for the ride. This time the funky 6th!
Mariahilf is one of three Vienna districts named after a woman. It is central, small, socialist and young. Street life is fine, and despite the shopping and tourists, it has a big heart, and small details that make it distinctive.
It was a pioneer district in terms of feminist city-planning, and street art, and is framed by the historic, powerful centre of our city, to the east, groovy Neubau in the north, diverse Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus in the West, and then poorer Meidling and Margareten in the South. This is banal social geography, to understand more complex politics and sociology, on a modern, playful city tour.
Eugene finds this the best of Vienna's 23 districts to walk through!
You must book a ticket for this event in advance. Please do not arrive at meeting point without a ticket. Visit Club Melange website for more details, from Recom.
