This is a tour of 20 beautiful buildings in the western, quiet, hilly part of Ottakring, which is less-visited, less noisy (and a bit less cool).
For those of you who know the district well, we will visit Baumeisterg., Sandleitenhof, Fuchslochweg and Paulinensteig.
Ottakring remains distinctive in Wien, because it has a strong identity (unlike Hernals or Währing) and because it is a committed socialist part of town, where the locals call their hood by its name, not its number!
Sandleitenhof is the largest residential building complex from Rotes Wien. It has 1,587 apartments and stretches across streets. The architecture was influenced by Otto Wagner and Camillo Sitte.
We will talk wine culture, topography, weather, play and joy. there is a fine mix in West Wien, between richer and poorer, which is missing in other cities.
We will finish at legendary10er Marie, the legendary oldest Heurige in Wien.
