Austria's footie team is getting better since years. Good to watch. We want to celebrate Austria finally qualifying for a World Cup Finals, after 28 years - in Mexico, USA & Canada - with a tour exploring football architecture in Vienna. We are cult, playful and often not so successful!

This will be a storytelling walk, where fans from different teams tell their history of following their club - both celebratory, comic and tragic. We will walk north from Allianz Stadion to Sportklub, First Vienna, then East to Happelstadion and south to Favoriten and Austria's home. Of course there will be beer and songs on the way...

Eugene brought his son Josef to his first match - Austria v Ireland - in November 2016, aged 4. It snowed in the Happel Stadion. and Josef - who is Irish-Steirisch - decided he would shout for both teams. But this made the fans in the stadium cross. They told him that he needed to be more tribal and passionate. Ireland won 0-1. Why do so many Vienna teams have English names like First or Austria? We will explain all the traditions, and the rituals.

What makes a good stadium? Who has the best fans? Two days before Austria finally play in the world cup finals (first time since 1998), we will tell all the stories, and get excited about Tuesday night's game against Jordan (which guide Eugene will visit in February 2026 - and a match which Austria will win).

We specially like the role of Jewish interwar skill pioneer Matthias Sindelar, and stadium-designer-architect-footie-player, Gerhard Hanappi (buried in the Hietzinger Friedhof, like Klimt and Otto Wagner). It is something special to be an architect-footballer, but Hanappi had it all! We look forward to hearing your stories...
Leiter Eugene ist leider Leeds United fan, und kann daswegen mit die Österreicher*Innen mitleiden.
