PARTICIPATION IN THE CITY

I'm Chiara, a sociology student from Italy and as intern to Whoosh I'm really happy to communicate about my first walking tour around the city of Vienna!

Since the first weeks in the city I could see how many opportunities it can give to everybody and, due to the fact that I'm very curious, I started reaserching about participation. With this tour I would like to share with you what I learned about this theme and to celebrate your voices, your ideas and your rights in a city that is actively open to listen and to create something together with you!

We will discover some projects that are starting right now and some other that are already finished, and we will go through their creations and their collaborative forms. 

In my small town in Italy, people are used to get things done for themselfs and not to co-create something with the authorities, so they are really good at complaining about everything that is working wrong or that it's missing their needs. But I think that with complainings you are not going anywhere, you need to transform them into actions and ideas, and that's the message in which I want to reflect with you. 

Participation for me is to look outside of your garden or your house and see that you moving that little stone from the street is giving the access to that street to a person in a wheelchair.
